Il giorno 1 Marzo 2024, alle ore 11:30, si terrą con collegamento in remoto il seminario del prof. Ivan Camponagara, dal titolo: Multisensory integration for action planning and execution.

Di seguito l'abstract del seminario e una breve biografia del prof.  Ivan Camponagara.

Abstract

Grasping movements are typically performed toward visually sensed objects. However, planning and execution of grasping movements can also be supported by haptic information when we grasp objects held in the other hand. For instance, when passing a smartphone from one hand to the other or opening a marmalade jar, we rely on visual information and haptic inputs from one hand to guide the other hand. In this talk, I’ll discuss the role of haptics and vision in action performance, providing experimental evidence on the pivotal role of haptics in supporting vision for action. I’ll integrate these findings into a new theoretical framework explaining how the visuo-haptic integration processes occur in action planning and execution.

Bio

Ivan Camponogara is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Zayed University. He holds a BA from the University of Udine, an MA, and a PhD from the University of Verona. Before his current appointment, Ivan was a Senior Research Associate at the Division of Science of NYU Abu Dhabi. Ivan is a kinesiologist investigating how humans process and merge multiple sensory inputs into motor commands to plan and execute skilled actions. He uses a multimodal approach that combines behavioral experiments, custom-made experimental setups, a motion capture system, and Bayesian statistics. His works have been featured in multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journals such as eNeuro and Scientific Reports and leading journals in sensory-motor control science such as Cortex, Neuroscience, and Journal of Neurophysiology. In 2015 he received the Young Investigator Award from the Max Planck Institute in Gottingen for his work on walking sound aftereffect in cochlear implanted individuals. He is editor of a special issue in Frontiers in Psychology and co-organized two editions of Glimpses at NYU Abu Dhabi, an exhibition that bridges art and science.
